Sandhole Oak Barn

Felicity & Jason's Summer Wedding Felicity and Jason had a gold and white colour theme.

"Neither of us wanted to get married in a church. We looked in magazines and on the internet for ages, when we found Sandhole Oak Barn. We visited it and fell in love with the venue straight away."

The four bridesmaids wore full length dark gold dresses from House of Fraser. Jason and ushers wore dark brown Prince Edward suits with a gold waistcoat and a shimmery gold cravat. Felicity's dress was from a shop in Salisbury (near her parents house) where she went to look for ideas. Here you can buy one off dresses that are end of line designer dresses. She tried her dress and bought it the next day. She was lucky it didnt need adjusting - like it was made for her. It was strapless with a fitted bodice which then flowed outwards. It had a material rose attached to the right and was made of taffeta. The dress was worn with a silver tiara, necklace and bracelet.

Felicity had a shower bouquet of calla lillies and roses with a gorgeous brown rose featured to match the gold theme. The bridesmaids had a hand tied bouquet of brown and cream roses. All the flowers were real and done by a local florist in Golborne.

The venue was decorated with simple flower arrangements which hung from the pillars in the ceremony and were then moved into the reception area. Felicity and her Mum made these. Felicity also designed the table centrepieces - a gold plate with simple lily artificial flowers, placed round an ivory candle with some vanilla scented beads scattered on the plate.

Their favours were Love Hearts on the tables. The wedding cake was a three-tier round cake with ivory icing and gold flowers featured. Felicity's Mum designed and made the cake.

When asked if she had any tips for future wedding couples Felicity said "Try and do as much as you can yourself if you are on a budget. Artificial flowers look great - I dont think there is any need to spend a fortune on real ones. If you have time, make your own invites - they are so much cheaper and everyone commented on how nice they were. We also wrote our own really simple vows taking ideas from the registrar and off the internet. Everyone said that it was the nicest civil ceremony they had ever been to, because it was so personal."
